What’s Up?
On one of his many podcasts this past week, I heard Gary Vaynerchuk say something along the lines of, “if your content is getting stale, you have to drastically change it up.”
And as I was listening to those words come out of his mouth, it occurred to me that I was already doing exactly that with my own content this week.
I wouldn’t necessarily say that my content has gotten state from a conversion standpoint, but it isn’t exactly fresh either. So I wanted to do something a little different this week, and that has naturally evolved into my three content ideas for this week.
Shoutout Your People
The first thing that I did to change things up this week was “exempt my regularly scheduled post” to send a public “thank you” to one of my best people. The response was…well…outstanding.
This one worked especially well because the person I thanked is a very public part of our business, which means that the people I was trying to reach knew her quite well. Perfection.
Shoutout Your Competitors
Since I was feeling good after shouting out someone on my team, I decided to push the envelope a bit more and shout out one of my competitors. That’s why I dedicated my Friday post to promoting a new BBQ restaurant that recently opened in my town.
Most of my audience would have expected me to view this competitor with a negative attitude, but I think his food is good and I know he works hard, so I went the opposite way and told everyone they should check him out.
This was the definition of throwing the audience a curveball, and it got me more positive vibes from the community than I will ever lose in regular business. Plus I believe that expanding the number of people who are crushing great BBQ for dinner will mean more money for both of us in the long run.
Flip the Script
The third way that I stepped outside my comfort zone this week was by flipping the script on the standard “Now Hiring” ad that just about every restaurant in the entire world is posting on Facebook.
Instead, I posted a “We’re NOT Hiring” message noting that we have an amazing staff that is absolutely crushing it right now. Then I added that we would still be interested in adding anyone who might be able to help us, but they would really have to impress me.
Whether your content is kicking ass or stale AF, think about what you can do to change things up a bit this week. It might end up being the breakthrough you have been waiting for!
Have a Great Week!
Andy
